I think that the film "The Hurt Locker" greatly portrays realism. The situations that the soldiers go through in the movie are undoubtedly similar to soldiers in real life. We have always heard about bombings and terrorist, but we never really had a image and haven't seen much about them. We get to see the real life situations that soldiers go through.
I think that the viewers gain a new insight to this part of life of soldiers. It effects the viewers how any other movie that contains real life and death situations; it gives the viewer fresh eyes to see what happens in war. I think that the viewers who may have experienced similar situations would be sucked back into the feelings that they had when they went through that experience.

I think the biggest take away from this class is new ways of thinking; we learned how to look at things in a different light so to speak. We though critically on many things. I am not sure what there would be to change about the class. I think that near the end of the year that it would be awesome for the class to make a video themselves. We didn't get to do that, but I think it would have turned out pretty nicely if we had the chance to make videos and have that experience as a filmmaker.

  2. Tania, I agree with this blog completely. The movie does help see what it was like with the situation. Also I think new ways of thinking was the biggest take away because I now think of movies in a whole different aspect. I think it would be cool for the class to make a video because it would really show how difficult filming actually is. I believe it would really open up the students eyes.

  3. I like the idea of the class making a movie. I think we would learn a lot from that experience and realize how hard it would be to make a movie.

  4. Tania, I agree with what you said in the first question. It is very realistic and gives us a totally different view than what we had before. I agree we do look at things differently now that I have taken this class. I think it would be great for students to try and make their own video next year.

  5. Tania, I also agree that making a film would be a wonderful addition to the class. It would open up new opportunities to the students, and give them a small insight as to what happens behind the big screen.

  6. Great Blog! I agree that the situations that soldier are put in are unreal. I feel like the movie did a good job of representing these experience in a real life way. The movie really did give insight into just how intense the life of a soldier is. I also have a new way of thinking when it comes to watching movies. This class provided insight into a lot of different things about film. I like your suggestion about making a film ourselves!

  7. Itty Bitty, I like your answer for the first question about realism. That we knew about bombing and terrorists but we didn't have an image in our heads to what it really is. The suggestion that you gave about at the end of the year having people make videos by themselves would of been really fun this year!
